Teenage girl car passenger dies in Dorset BMW crash

A teenage car passenger has died in a crash in Dorset.

The 17-year-old girl was in a BMW when it lost control on a bend and overturned on the B3157 coast road at Langton Herring.

She died at the scene. The 21-year-old male driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries after the crash, which happened just before 0100 GMT.

Two other male passengers, aged 18 and 25, were treated and later discharged. Police have appealed for witnesses.

Dorset Police and Dorset Fire and Rescue said they had dealt with numerous accidents across the county throughout the night and morning, many of which were the result of icy conditions.

Police said more than 30 accidents happened between 0700 and 1000 GMT.

Two elderly women had to be cut free from their cars following a collision which closed the A31 at Corfe Mullen for several hours.

The air ambulance was called to the crash, which happened at about 0930 GMT.

Dorset Fire and Rescue said it had also dealt with crashes in Pamphill, Sixpenny Handley, Litton Cheyney, Knapp Hill, Wimborne St. Giles and Salwayash.

Drivers are being warned to take extra precautions during the cold weather.
