Armed police surround Bournemouth apartment block
Armed police have surrounded flats in Bournemouth in what they are calling a "domestic incident".
Officers were called to Seabourne Road shortly before 1600 GMT and closed part of the road at the junction of Christchurch Road.
An eyewitness said he saw someone hanging out of a window at the block earlier.
BBC News understands police are trying to negotiate with a lone man inside the building.
Tony Hughes, who lives at the perimeter of the cordon, told BBC News armed police "were everywhere" and the force helicopter was circling overhead.
He said officers have not advised him to stay indoors.
Police said they would release further details later but it is thought they are trying to negotiate with a lone man inside the building.
Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said it was in attendance but declined to comment further.
Mr Hughes added: "We've heard there's someone holed up in a building, possibly with a weapon.
"It looks like officers have taken over a chip shop and there are armed police everywhere."
The 1b and 2c Yellow Bus services have also been diverted due to the incident.
The firm said the disruption could last for "several hours".
