Bournemouth council homes to get solar panels
Schools and council homes in a Dorset town are to be fitted with solar panels as part of a two-month pilot scheme.
Up to 50 homes and two schools in Bournemouth will be given photo-voltaic solar panels as the borough council tries to reduce its carbon footprint.
If successful, the scheme will be rolled out to include all council housing, care homes and schools.
The scheme is expected to cost £8,000 per house which will be recouped through an energy payments scheme.
The schools taking part in the pilot project are Kingsleigh Primary School and Heathlands Primary School.
Two types of panels will be tested. Up to 50 jobs could be created if the scheme is rolled out.
