Bournemouth hospital reopens wards after virus outbreak

Four wards have been reopened to new admissions at a Dorset hospital after an outbreak of the vomiting and diarrhoea bug norovirus.

Six wards were closed earlier this month at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital and visitor restrictions put in place.

Only wards two and four now remain closed along with a bay in ward 21, with visitors banned from these areas.

The hospital said relatives can attend in "exceptional circumstances" but must contact the nurse in charge first.

The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said it was reviewing the situation twice daily.
