Vacuum cleaner clue over attack on woman in Dorset

A man seen carrying a vacuum cleaner in the street around the time a woman was attacked in her home is being sought by Dorset Police.

The 26-year-old victim was at home in Norwich Avenue West in Bournemouth on Thursday morning when a man burst in and attacked her.

She was treated for bruising to her face and body. Nothing was stolen.

Detectives appealed for anyone whose vacuum cleaner may have gone missing to come forward.

Det Insp Rich Dixey said: "This was an appalling attack that has, understandably, left the victim terrified.

"As a result of our inquiries, we understand that a man was seen in both Norwich Avenue West and nearby Queen's Road around the time of this attack.

"He was carrying a pull-along hosed vacuum cleaner."

The man is described as white, aged about 30, of a medium or stocky build, with greying, short brown hair with a bald patch at the back.

He was wearing dark trousers and a dark hooded top. He was also carrying a rucksack.
