Evacuation after Dorset gas leak crash

About 10 homes were evacuated after a gas leak was sparked when a van crashed in Dorset.

Fire crews were called to Ringwood Road, Verwood, just before 1100 GMT on Saturday after the van hit a gas valve.

A cordon was set up and all the homes inside the zone were evacuated as a precaution.

Engineers from National Grid managed to isolate the supply to the affected homes and residents were allowed to return shortly afterwards.
