Injured horse rider airlifted after Dorset beach fall

An injured rider was airlifted to hospital after falling from her horse on a Dorset beach.

The emergency services were called to Highcliffe Beach in Christchurch after the alarm was raised on Sunday.

The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance was scrambled and Portland Coastguard went to the scene to prepare a site for it to land safely.

The woman was airlifted to Poole General Hospital where she was treated for facial and other injuries.
