Dorset crews tackle large Wareham heathland fire

About eight hectares (20 acres) of heathland have been destroyed by fire in Dorset.

At its height about 40 firefighters were on the scene tackling the flames, on land at East Stoke near Wareham.

The alarm was raised at 1410 BST on Monday with the blaze extinguished by crews using hose reel jets and beaters just over an hour later.

Dorset fire service said the cause of the fire is under investigation but it is not thought to be suspicious.
