A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a man believed to be a former BBC radio presenter.

Police said the dead man had not been formally identified but was thought to be Howard Winton Cooper, a former BBC Radio Sheffield presenter.

The man, in his 60s, was found in a flat in Ham Meadow, Marnhull, near Sturminster Newton, Dorset.

His son Joseph Cooper, 23, appeared at Weymouth Magistrates' Court and was remanded in custody.

He will appear at Winchester Crown Court on Wednesday.
