Whirrs, Cogs and Thingamabobs is a collection of 150 quirky antique gadgets including a clockwork burglar alarm and an electric hair-restoring comb, all belonging to collector Maurice Collins, and exhibited at Dorset County Museum.

Dorchester's Roman Town House is open to the public on Wednesdays until 14 September.

Poole Borough Council has organised a wildlife fun day on Sandbanks beach on Wednesday 24 August, from 11:00 to 15:00 BST. Meet on the beach by the Beach Office and main car park.

Join family-friendly wildlife workshops at the RSPB's Radipole Lake nature reserve in Weymouth, every Wednesday during August from 10:00 BST - 12 noon.

Literary Lyme Guided Walks: Walking tours of Lyme Regis and the Jurassic Coast. Explore its use as a film set, meet great historical characters and follow the footsteps of local authors - throughout the summer.
