About 700 sq m (7,500 sq ft) of trees and gorse were destroyed in a suspected deliberate heath fire in Dorset.

Fire crews were called at about 1640 BST on Friday to the blaze at Hurn Forest in Boundary Lane, Ferndown.

At its height, five fire engines and seven Land Rovers were used to bring the fire under control, with crews leaving the scene in the early hours.

A spokesman said the fire was thought to have been started deliberately and an investigation is under way.
