Man slashed in unprovoked Bournemouth attack

A man was slashed across the face, neck and stomach in an unprovoked attack in Bournemouth, Dorset.

Police believe the attacker may have used a razor blade to inflict the injuries on the victim at the junction of Cecil Road and Sea Road.

The 28-year-old was treated in hospital, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Police said the attack on Saturday night was "terrifying" and appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Det Insp Becky Riggs said: "The victim was walking along Cecil Road when a man suddenly approached him and attacked him with a sharp instrument, possibly a razor.

"Clearly this was a terrifying experience and it is fortunate that the outcome was not far worse."

The attacker is described as white, about 30, with a shaved head and was wearing grey shorts.
