Calf submerged in Wimborne ditch rescued

A calf had to be rescued by firefighters after becoming stuck in a ditch in Dorset.

The animal was found by a passer-by submerged up to its nose in mud at Julian's Bridge in Wimborne on Saturday afternoon.

A specialist animal rescue team from Poole and a retained crew from Wimborne attended and managed to pull out the calf using ropes.

It was unharmed and later reunited with its herd, the fire service said.
