Taxi drivers sought after Bournemouth murder

Detectives investigating the murder of a man in Dorset want to talk to taxi drivers who may have been in the area at the time.

Glyn Helliwell, 42, died after being found seriously injured along Parkwood Road in the Southbourne area of Bournemouth early on Wednesday.

He was taken to Royal Bournemouth Hospital where he later died.

Police want to trace drivers who were near the Grove Tavern pub on Seabourne Road between 0015 and 0030 BST.

No arrests

An inquest into the death of Mr Helliwell, from Poole, has been opened and adjourned to a later date.

Nobody has been arrested in connection with his death.

Det Ch Insp Kevin Connolly, of Bournemouth CID, urged anyone who noticed a commotion or heard a disturbance in the Parkwood Road area shortly after midnight on Wednesday to contact police.

He said: "Anyone who has information about Glyn's movements, or intended movements, during the evening of Tuesday and the early hours of Wednesday should also call Dorset Police immediately.

"I would also like to hear from anyone who knew Glyn who has yet to speak with officers.

"Finally, I understand that taxi drivers may have been in the Seabourne Road area, near the Grove Tavern public house, between the hours of 12.15am and 12.30am on Wednesday morning.

"I would urge any taxi drivers who were in this area to contact me as soon as possible."
