Turbary Common heath fire 'started deliberately'

A heath fire on a Dorset nature reserve is believed to have been started deliberately.

A Dorset Fire and Rescue Service crew was called to Turbary Common on Wallisdown Road, Bournemouth at about midnight.

A fire service spokesman said about 200 sq m (2,150 sq ft) of heath and gorse were found to be alight when firefighters arrived.

The 45 hectare reserve is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
