Police officer accused of attacking woman in Bournemouth

A serving police officer has been charged over an alleged attack on a woman in Dorset.

PC Matthew Cherry, of Dorset Police, is accused of attacking a 26-year-old woman in Norwich Avenue West, Bournemouth, on 24 March.

The woman was treated for bruising to her face and body following the incident.

The 34-year-old, who has been suspended from duty, is charged with attempted GBH with intent.

He will appear before Bournemouth magistrates later.
