Group of men in Dorset sex attack on lone woman

A 21-year-old woman has been sexually assaulted by a group of men in Dorset.

The victim was walking along Wincombe Lane in Shaftesbury in the early hours of Saturday on her own when she was attacked by at least four men.

The woman managed to escape uninjured but was "extremely distressed", police said.

Officers said the attack had raised "strong feelings in the community" but urged people to come forward through the "correct channels".

'Cut through'

Det Con Gavin Roy said: "This was a despicable attack on a lone woman by a number of men.

"It is essential that anyone who witnessed this incident... contacts me as soon as possible.

"I understand that this lane is often used by people to cut through the industrial estate on their way home from Shaftesbury town centre."

Two of the men are of large build, while another two are of a smaller build with one possibly wearing a woolly hat.
