Body on Dorset beach believed to be missing angler

The body of a man found on a beach in Dorset is believed to be that of a 65-year-old man who had been reported as missing to police.

The coastguard found the body near the Cliffhanger Cafe at the bottom of Waterford Road, Highcliffe-on-Sea, in the early hours of Sunday.

Paramedics from Southwest Ambulance who attended pronounced the man dead.

Police believe the body is that of a shore angler reported missing after he failed to return home from fishing.

The coroner and the man's next of kin have been informed.

There are no suspicious circumstances, Dorset Police said.
