Police have released a CCTV image of two women who came to the aid of a rape victim in Dorset.

The attack on the woman, in her 20s, in Ferndown took place near the Tesco supermarket along Penny's Walk in the early hours of New Year's Day.

Det Con Al Marks, of Bournemouth and Poole CID, said: "I would like to stress that these two women are not in any sort of trouble".

A 27-year-old man, from Bournemouth, has been charged with rape.

Det Con Marks added: "I understand that two women assisted an injured woman shortly after the incident.

"We are now able to release images of these two women in the hope that they come forward and speak with us.

"We simply believe that they may have information that will help us with our investigation".
