Man hurt as cars on A338 in Dorset forced to swerve

A man suffered serious head injuries when he was hit by a car as he forced drivers on a busy Dorset dual carriageway to swerve round him.

The 31-year-old was said to have been wandering from lane to lane across the A338 Wessex Way in Bournemouth.

He was eventually struck by a car being driven by a 40-year-old woman from Ringwood who suffered extreme shock.

The man is said to be stable after the incident on Saturday. Wessex Way was shut for three hours.

Police have appealed to anyone who saw the man acting strangely beforehand to contact them.
