Fire has damaged an area of heathland near playing fields in Dorset.

Firefighters from Redhill Park were called to deal with the blaze at the bottom of King George's Field, Ferndown, shortly after 13:00 GMT.

The crew requested help from three other stations to deal with the blaze, which covered an area 60m by 60m.

Specialist Land Rovers and an off road fire engine were used and the fire was put out by 16:00 GMT. A crew was due to inspect the area later.
