Seven hundred spare tickets for the evening celebrations of the Olympic torch's visit to Weymouth and Portland have been claimed within five minutes.

The borough, which is hosting the 2012 sailing events, will see the arrival of the Olympic flame on Thursday.

Successful applicants, who secured their tickets online, had until 29 June to claim them but 700 went uncollected.

The leftover tickets for the free event were released at 08:00 BST on Monday but had gone by 08:05, say organisers.

The evening celebration in Weymouth will include entertainment and live music from rapper Wretch 32.

A fireworks display over Weymouth Bay will round off the two-and-a-half hour evening event.

Public viewing of the relay will be possible from Osprey Quay in Portland, along Ham Beach Road and past the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy.

The Torch Relay will also pass through Dorchester, Bridport and Lyme Regis.
