Woman falls from bridge on to railway line in Pokesdown

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman fell from a road bridge in Dorset on to a railway track below.

The 20-year-old Bournemouth woman sustained pelvic, arm and leg injuries in the fall near Pokesdown station just before 10:00 BST, police said.

She is in a critical condition. Train services were halted before the line was reopened just after 11:00 BST.

A 25-year-old Hampshire man was held at the scene and later released on bail.

He was initially held on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, British Transport Police said.
