The Bishop of Winchester will lay a foundation stone as part of a £14.5m overhaul of a 1950s secondary school in Dorset later.

About 80% of The Bishop of Winchester Academy in Bournemouth will be rebuilt and the rest will be refurbished during the works.

The Reverend Canon Tim Dakin will preside over the official laying of the foundation stone at 10:30 BST.

The new building is set to open in July 2014.

A sixth form will also be created for 16 to 18 year olds at the school, which currently serves pupils up to the age of 16.
