Rain causes flooding disruption in Dorset

Flooding and heavy rain caused delays in parts of Dorset on Thursday morning.

Floodwater at the A35 in Lytchett Minster near the Bakers Arms roundabout and the A341 Magna Road in Merley near Moortown Drive caused tailbacks.

The Environment Agency issued a flood warning for Poole Harbour at West Quay and Lower Hamworthy Quay, saying the biggest risk was at high tide.

Poole Speedway was forced to postpone the second leg of its Elite Grand Final race meeting on Wednesday evening.

Flood alerts were in place at Weymouth, West Bay and Christchurch harbours as a combination of rain and spring tides caused concern.

Eastern coastal areas and rivers in Purbeck, Weymouth, West Dorset and the Stour were also placed on alert, the Environment Agency said.

Rainwater also caused delays on the minor road through Muckleford and at Bindon Lane in East Stoke.
