'Girl, 16,' dies in Ringwood scooter crash

A scooter rider has been killed in a crash in Ringwood in Dorset.

The accident happened on the westbound carriageway of the A31 near the Ashley Heath roundabout on Sunday evening.

Police said the rider of a red scooter, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was believed to be a 16-year-old girl from Ringwood.

It is not yet known if any other vehicles were involved. The coroner and next of kin have been informed. Officers are appealing for witnesses.

A Dorset Police spokesman described the crash, which happened at about 20:20 GMT, as "extremely serious and complex".

He said family liaison officers were working with the relatives of the deceased.

The Woolsbridge and Ashley Heath roundabouts were fully reopened to traffic early on Monday afternoon.
