Man released on bail in Weymouth explosives inquiry

A man arrested on suspicion of possessing explosives after suspicious items were found at a property in Dorset has been released on bail.

The 32-year-old was arrested in Portwey Close, Weymouth, after police were called on Friday afternoon.

The area was sealed off until Saturday morning with houses nearby evacuated as a precaution.

A Dorset Police spokesman said the incident was not thought to be terror related.

The man was questioned on suspicion of possession of substances under the Explosive Substances Act.

He was released on police bail while inquiries continue.
