Poole bicycle hit-and-run girl named as Leila Crofts

A nine-year-old girl hit by a cyclist near a Dorset beach remains in a "critical" condition in hospital.

Leila Crofts, from Poole, was struck by a cyclist on Pinecliff Road as she crossing the road around 14:25 BST on Friday.

Her parents Chanine and Darren released her name to police earlier and are continuing to support her in hospital.

A 38-year-old Bournemouth man was arrested after presenting himself at Bournemouth Police station.

The accident happened close to the entrance for Branksome beach.
