Linda Lietaviete death: Man faces murder charge
A man has appeared before magistrates following the discovery of a teenager's body in Bournemouth.
Alvin Santos, 25, from Bournemouth, was charged with the murder of 16-year-old Linda Lietaviete.
Her body was found by a team of paramedics near the flyover at Horseshoe Common at around 00:20 GMT on Friday.
Mr Santos was remanded in custody by Bournemouth magistrates to appear at Winchester Crown Court on Wednesday.
The 16-year-old, who was originally from Latvia, was a business administration student at Bournemouth and Poole College.
In a statement, the college said she was "very popular" and a "joy to teach".
It said staff and students had been "deeply shocked" and her classmates were "devastated".
Ben Parnell, executive principal at Glenmoor School in Bournemouth where Linda was a former student, said staff were "deeply saddened" by her death.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with Linda's family at this terrible time," he said.
