Bournemouth Horseshoe Common revamp begins

A six-month scheme to improve an area of Bournemouth town centre has begun.

Horseshoe Common, close to where the majority of the town's pubs and clubs are located, is to be revamped to encourage more people to use it.

Changes will involve closing the road at night, creating a shared space with the common and Old Christchurch Road and moving the taxi rank and bus stops.

Cycling routes and a 20mph zone will also be created as part of the works, due to be completed by 25 July.

Bournemouth Borough Council said the improvements would make the area "safer and more attractive".

Buses will be diverted and some road closures will be in place while the works are being carried out.
