Man killed in three-car collision on A31 in Dorset

A man has died in a three-car crash on the A31 in Dorset.

Police said a blue Subaru overtook a HGV and collided with a Skoda travelling in the opposite direction before hitting a Mercedes.

The Skoda driver died and his two passengers were badly hurt. The Subaru driver, who suffered minor injuries, is being questioned by police.

The crash happened between Winterbourne Zelston and Bere Regis at about 17:54 GMT on Monday.

A seven-mile stretch of the road was shut between Sturminster Marshall and Bere Regis following the crash.

Officers want to speak to potential witnesses who were travelling in a small green car travelling towards Wimborne.

The driver of the Mercedes was unhurt.
