One of Bournemouth's car parks is to be used to build 56 homes.

Councillors have approved proposals to use the St Stephens Road car park, near Bournemouth Square for eight town houses and 48 apartments.

The car park is currently used for Bournemouth Borough Council staff on weekdays and by the public at evenings and weekends.

A planning application for the site will now be submitted with work set to start in early 2016.

The Bournemouth Development Company (BDC) - a joint project between the council and construction firm Morgan Sindall - is behind the plans.
