Three people were rescued from the roof of a car after it plunged into a river.

Water had reached the windows of the vehicle after it went into the River Frome, near Wrackleford, Dorset.

The trio were rescued by firefighters using a boat after a 999 call was received at about 19.40 GMT on Wednesday.

It is not yet known how the car ended up in the water, and no injuries were reported.

No details have been released about the people involved.
