Jason Rogers jailed for raping woman in Bournemouth church grounds
A man who lured a woman into the grounds of a church before hitting her over the head and raping her has been jailed for 12 years.
Jason Robert Rogers, 26, attacked his victim, who was working as a prostitute, outside St Peter's Church in Bournemouth.
Rogers, of no fixed abode, was found guilty following a trial at Bournemouth Crown Court.
Det Con Neil Third said it was "a sadistic attack on a vulnerable woman."
Rogers met his victim as she begged in the town centre in the early hours of Sunday 26 July 2015 before walking together to the church grounds, the court heard.
He was arrested and charged on 29 July after DNA evidence was obtained from the victim.
"I hope that by coming forward I will encourage other sex workers to also consider talking to police if they are the victim of violence", Roger's victim said.
