The body of a man found in the sea near Swanage has been identified as a missing 26-year-old climber.

An extensive air, sea and land search by police and coastguard crews began on 15 June when Liam Day failed to return to his Southampton home.

He is thought to have been climbing alone near Durlston Country Park.

The Dorset coroner's office said Mr Day's family had been informed and a post-mortem examination was due to be held on Thursday.

Mr Day's body was spotted at about 11:45 BST on Tuesday by a passing yacht and was recovered by one of the Swanage lifeboats.

An inquest is expected to be opened within the next week.
