Man dies after Bournemouth Pier sea rescue

A man has died after being pulled from the sea late at night off the coast of Dorset.

Rescue teams were sent out at 23:20 BST on Monday amid reports of a person in the water off Bournemouth Pier.

The man, believed to be in his 60s, was picked up by lifeboats before being winched to the coastguard helicopter. He was taken to Poole Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The man's next of kin have been informed.

His death is not being treated as suspicious.
