A £70 fine is to be introduced to curb the number of motorists collecting or dropping off passengers on a road leading to Bournemouth Airport.

Dorset County County is bringing in a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) for Parley Lane on April 21.

The authority said it hoped the legislation would help tackle safety issues created by motorists stopping at "unsuitable points" along the road.

The airport introduced a charge to drop off or collect passengers in 2011.

The initial fee of £2.50 was increased to £3 in April 2016.

A Bournemouth Airport spokeswoman said: "The airport welcomes this work, which is designed to improve highway safety along Parley Lane and at the airport entrance."
