A motorcycle passenger involved in a crash that claimed the life of her husband has died of her injuries.

Barbara Samways, 71, from Blandford, was riding pillion alongside her husband Sid on their black Kawasaki motorcycle when it was involved in a collision with a car near Compton Abbas airfield on Sunday.

Mr Samways, 74, died at the scene.

A 24-year-old man arrested on suspicion of driving offences has been bailed until June pending further inquiries.

In a statement, Mr and Mrs Samways' family said: "To lose both Sid and Barbara is heartbreaking.

"We wish to give our thanks for all the expressions of sympathy and kindness we have been shown."

Officers have appealed for witnesses to the crash, which happened on Higher Shaftesbury Road at about 15:40 BST, to come forward.
