A woodland fire on a cliff next to a beach is believed to have originated from a disposable barbeque.

Six fire crews spent more than an hour extinguishing the blaze at Canford Cliffs in Poole, Dorset, on Saturday afternoon.

A fire service Twitter account posted a photograph from the scene of a burnt-out disposable barbeque and said: "Will we ever learn?"

A fire service spokesman said the cause was being investigated.

Dorset Police also attended the scene, but has not yet said whether it is investigating.

The blaze comes one week after part of nearby Bournemouth Beach was evacuated because of a gorse fire started by a flare.
