Man arrested after two suffer gunshot wounds in Essex

A 62-year-old man has been arrested and bailed on suspicion of attempted murder following two incidents in Essex.

He was questioned by police after two men turned up at Basildon Hospital on Wednesday with gunshot wounds.

It has also emerged that armed police then raided Elm Farm Nursery at Crays Hill, near Basildon, and found 50 cannabis plants and firearms.

Officers are linking the incidents and also arrested and bailed two women on suspicion of cultivating cannabis.

The women are aged 39 and 63 and are both due to return to a police station on the same date in November as the 62-year-old man.

All three are from Billericay.

Three other men, aged 21, 27 and 30, were arrested and released without charge, police said.
