A 16-year-old girl and her 48-year-old father died from stab wounds following an incident at a house in Essex, post-mortem tests have revealed.

Margaret and Costas Pierides were found with serious injures at the detached house in Prayors Hill, Sible Hedingham, on Saturday morning.

Mr Pierides died at the scene while his daughter was flown to hospital where she later died from her injuries.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of their deaths.

Essex Police began a murder investigation following the discovery of the bodies, but said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the inquiry.

Bernadette Bass, Mr Pierides' partner and Margaret's mother, said: "We really appreciate all the support that so many have given me and my family during this traumatic time.

"I do however ask that our privacy be respected so that my children and I can grieve for our loved ones."

Margaret had been a pupil at Hedingham School. Head teacher John Panayi said the school would be offering counselling and support to pupils and staff.

Mr Pierides was a director of independent ambulance company Door 2 Door - which is based in Tottenham, north London.

'Troubled girl'

Margaret's friends said she had a difficult relationship with her father, but the pair appeared to have patched things up recently.

She had returned home a few months ago after spending time in a youth hostel in Braintree.

Kika Willings, 18, who went to school with Margaret, said: "When she went back home she was so happy. She was sorting her life out.

"She seemed to have patched things up. We were best friends. She was so much fun to be around. She was crazy."

Miss Willings' mother, Celestine Adams, 45, said: "Margaret was a lovely girl, a wild card - a little troubled but a lovely girl."
