A woman in her 30s died and two men were injured when a car crashed into a bridge on the A12 in Essex.

The crash at Dedham on Sunday morning meant both carriageways were closed.

One man in his 40s was airlifted to Royal London Hospital and another, in his 30s, was taken by air ambulance to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.

All three occupants of the car were from the Ipswich area. The A12 was closed northbound at Gun Hill but reopened in mid-afternoon.

Anyone who witnessed the crash has been asked to contact police.
