Six arrested over fight in Loughton street

Four men and two 17-year-olds have been arrested in Essex following a street fight in which two men were injured.

Police were called to High Road, Loughton, to reports of a large group fighting after leaving Crystal Lounge nightclub at about 0215 GMT.

Two men, both in their 20s and from Ilford, were taken to hospital.

Officers from throughout Essex were assisted at the scene by British Transport Police and police from London and Hertfordshire.

A section of the High Road was closed in the early hours while forensic investigations were carried out between Smarts Lane and Old Station Road.

One of the injured men had suffered a broken jaw while the other had facial injuries, police said.

'Talks with nightclub'

A 21-year-old was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and one of the 17-year-olds was arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm. Both are from Loughton.

A second boy and a 22-year-old, both from Ilford, have been arrested on suspicion of affray.

A 32-year-old man from Loughton was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and causing grievous bodily harm.

The sixth arrest involves a 19-year-old from South Woodford, who is suspected of violent disorder and causing actual bodily harm

All six were in custody and due to be questioned by detectives, police said.

The fighting is believed to have started when the Crystal Lounge closed early after trouble developed inside.

Ch Insp Alan Ray: "We will be meeting with management of the Crystal Lounge this week to discuss what happened and to consider ways to prevent future problems."
