Robber attacks mother and child in Essex to grab bag

A robber knocked a mother and her two-year-old girl to the ground in Essex as he tried to grab a handbag.

The robbery, at Shoeburyness near Southend, left the woman and her child needing hospital treatment for their injuries.

The woman had been walking along Exeter Close with her daughter in a pushchair on Friday afternoon.

The man fled with cash, cards and a mobile phone. The woman, in her 30s, and the girl suffered cuts and bruises.

They were taken to Southend General Hospital and released after treatment.

The man is described as medium build, in his 20s, with a round face and short brown hair.

He was wearing a black Puffa-style jacket and dark trousers.

Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them.
