Murder probe as woman's body found in Braintree house

A murder investigation has begun after a woman's body was found in a house in Essex.

Officers were called to Keeble Way, Braintree, on Sunday afternoon and found a woman with serious neck injuries.

Paramedics went to the house but the woman, thought to be in her 40s, was pronounced dead.

A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being questioned at Braintree police station.

Det Ch Insp Simon Parkes from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate said he believed the incident may have happened in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He said he wanted to hear from anyone who may have been in the area from 2030 BST on Saturday evening.

"No matter how small or insignificant that information may seem, please get in touch as it could be the vital piece of the jigsaw," he said.
