Footage of Braintree hit-and-run released

CCTV footage of a hit-and-run crash in which a van was driven into a parked car has been released by police.

The blue Renault Clio Sport car was pushed several yards along the road when hit by the van in Orchard Drive in Braintree, Essex, on 11 September.

Video footage from a household security camera shows a white Ford Connect van pass the parked vehicle and then return and run into the back of it.

The van trailed black smoke as it was driven away.

The car's owner Andrew Connolly, 27, said: "The car was my pride and joy and I'm gutted about what has happened."

Investigating officer, PC Philip Moor, said: "The car was valued at £4,000... it has been written off because of the cost of repairs.

"He (Mr Connolly) is obviously very upset and has been going to great personal lengths to find out who was responsible.

"We hope the video clip might help to identify the driver or the van and anyone with information should contact me immediately."

Anyone with information should contact Essex Police.
