Joseph Ball crash death accused appears in court

A man has appeared in court charged with causing the death of a six-year-old Essex boy by dangerous driving.

Joseph Ball, from Westcliff, and his mother were crossing London Road, Southend, on Monday, when he was hit by a motorcycle and died soon afterwards.

Marek Kolton, 26, of Princes Street, Southend, is also charged with failing to stop, driving without insurance and driving without a licence.

He appeared before Southend magistrates and was remanded in custody.

He will appear before Basildon Crown Court on 6 January.
