Man killed as crane falls at Tilbury Docks in Essex

A man has died after the crane he was operating toppled over at a dockyard.

The man, in his 40s, fell from the cabin as the crane crashed to the ground at Tilbury Docks in Essex.

Paramedic Ricky Walker, who attended the incident, said: "In this case the impact had caused the driver to fall out through the glass cab."

The man died from his injuries at the scene, a spokeswoman for the East of England Ambulance Service said.

Mr Walker added: "When I arrived I was shown where the crane had toppled over onto its side.

"His colleagues were initially able to speak to him and to give him reassurance that help had arrived."

No other casualties were involved in the incident.
