Police have been given more time to question ten people over the stabbing of a man outside an Essex off-licence.

Liam Mearns, 21, was found bleeding in Wellesley Road, Clacton, at 22:00 GMT on Tuesday. He died shortly afterwards.

Nine people arrested on suspicion of murder and a man held on suspicion of violent disorder have appeared at court in Harwich.

Magistrates granted officers a further 36 hours to question the ten suspects who are all from Clacton.

Police said a post-mortem examination showed that Mr Mearns, also from Clacton, died from a stab wound to the chest.
