Two charged over C2C train ticket inspector stabbing

Two teenagers have been remanded in custody after a ticket inspector was stabbed in the back on a C2C train travelling from Essex to London.

Charles Culley, 19, of Darwin Road, Tilbury, Essex, has been charged with wounding and common assault.

A 17-year-old, also from Tilbury, was charged with wounding, common assault and possession of a bladed article.

Both appeared before Basildon magistrates earlier and are due at Basildon Crown Court on 9 March.

The inspector, aged 42, was attacked just before 21:00 GMT on Friday after challenging two people travelling without tickets at East Tilbury station.

He was taken to Basildon University Hospital, where he received three stitches for his wound before being discharged.
